Francis Henry Eastick enlisted for the First World War at Ararat Victoria at the age of 36. He listed his younger sister - Lily Celia Eastick of Lake Bolac as his next of kin. Francis's address was also at Lake Bolac where another of his younger brother's - William Robert Eastick was living. Francis was a driver with the 14th Battalion & embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT a38 "Ulysses" on 22 Dec 1914. Francis Returned to Australia in 1916 suffering from Chronic Bronchitis. Francis returned to the 4th Machine Gun Battalion & it is reported in the "Argus" newspaper of the 10th May 1919 that the SS Armagh was bringing among others - F.H. Eastick to Port Melbourne for demobilisation. |
